History : In 1869 a company called “ Williamson & Magor” was founded by James Williamson and Richard Magor. Today the firm is still family owned and run by Philip Magor, a direct fourth generation descendant from the original Magor Family.Currently it has 17 tea estates in Assam producing 21 million kilos of tea for domestic and export consumption under its trading name of "Williamson Tea Assam". The Indian Company is linked to its UK parent company Williamson Tea Holdings Plc and its Kenyan sister company Williamson Tea Kenya Ltd. In the year 1925 the company added a new tea Estate called “ Koliabor “ situated near the first declared town of Assam “Silghat” . The advantage of this location was because of Silghat port from where they can easily send their made tea to Calcutta through River Brahmaputra. Koliabor Tea Estate is one of longest tea estate in Assam , the eastern part of the estate is touching Kaziranga National Parks & western part is by the bangs of river Brahmaputra , almost 16 Kms. The History of “Koliabor Manor ” way back to the year 1925 , when a “Bara sahab” ( Manager ) Bungalow was made inside Koliabor Tea estate in a hill top overlooking the river Brahmaputra in one side and other side the tea garden. It was the one of the best located Bungalow among all the tea garden of Assam . In 1962 the tea estate was brought by a “ Assamese Tea Planter ” and converted the “Bara Sahab” Bungalow to Director’s Bungalow. In the year 2006 two friends “ Mr. Prasanta Borgohain” ( from Assam) a graduate from Hotel Management institute, Calcutta and Mr. Joel Rapi , ( from Sweden both of them are associate with many hospitality & travel related job for almost 10 years has decided to convert this private residence to a commercial luxury resort “ Koliabor Manor” . The Resort : The Koliabor Manor is distinctly divided into the heritage bungalow and the spectacular cottages. Koliabor Manor provides accommodation for 20 guests in four heritage rooms in the bungalow and six private cottages .The cottages ( coming up by Nov.’2008) have a built up area of more than 500 sq. ft each. The Dining Room at the resort is furnished with tables and chairs and has an interactive kitchen. The main kitchen is a hidden kitchen located behind the Dining Room. The kitchen serves Indian and local cuisine and a range of Western dishes. Most of the vegetables and herbs are grown in the camp’s organic vegetable garden to ensure best possible freshness. Meals are served on fine china and crystal as well as traditional silverware. Guests can even tailor their own menus with the their Executive Chef.

We have the advantage of visiting Burapahar Range where there is a possibility of seeing a Tiger is most , has a special area for birding and animals are really wild as this gate has started from November 2006 only) Many Travel agents and guest are unknown to this fact.
